escaping the landscape
I was hoping for a lovely sunrise, and I already had envisioned the scene before I arrived – a lone tree by the bay, silhouetted by the sunlight shining through the leaves, the water glistening, shimmering. And when I arrived, what was supposed to be a lone tree were in fact 2 trees, and a lamp post stood in the middle with electrical wires everywhere. The sunrise was definitely lovely if it weren’t covered by the low cloud bank.
I had to shoot something. Anything. And then I realized why I like shooting people more than landscapes or seascapes.
The city streets have become less appealing lately. I am probably getting too familiar with the city scene – the newspaper vendors, the pedicab drivers, the watch repairman, the freelance photographers, the fruit vendors, the tire vulcanizing shops, pedestrians, commuters, passenger vehicles (jeepneys), beggars, street children, etc, etc. There’s too much struggle just to survive the day, and so many sad stories. It is very draining to be trying on other people’s shoes all the time. I need to find an escape.
It’s the Coca-Cola logo that attracted me to this store by the roadside. I spent a good half hour here, and would have gotten tipsy from the heavy smell of the coconut wine (tuba) permeating the store. Another story told; one more shoe to try out. I oftentimes wonder why I bother.
And just when I thought that I’ve seen everything, something new and interesting crops up.
This brings back childhood memories. Good memories. There is absolutely no need for a story because we’ve all been here before.
Wow – these are beautiful and such lovely dialogue
thank you

Those are some amazing captures. Love the feel of the photos.
Hi,
Sorry if this question has been asked and answered before but what gear do you use? If it has been answered before, please leave me a link to the article. Thanks alot….
I use a Canon 450D w/ an EF-S 17-55 lens most of the time, and a Lumix LX-5 when on travel.
Love the visual of the boat and the children frolicking in the water…and the last image – hop-scotch! 🙂 At least that is what we called the game. Thanks for sharing.
thanks. I think this game is played everywhere, although not as common as it was then.
lovely! just lovely, we all need that “escape”. sometimes, and be reminded of some childhood memories. thank you.
you’re welcome, and thank you too.
