Dambana ng Kagitingan
It’s been a while since my last post and I have been on vacation with my family the past week. We were in Bataan and visited Mt. Samat where the Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor) is situated. This place holds a lot of history, most famous of which is the Fall of Bataan and the Death March on April 9, 1942. We were just a few days from the 70th memorial commemoration of this historical event. My sincerest respects for the Filipino and American soldiers who gave up their lives fighting for our freedom.
I have to forward this to my dad, his brother is buried in Manila, he died at Capas Tarlac. I have to bring my dad to this site.
enjoy the scenery on the way there; it’s quite a very picturesque landscape
These gave me chills and goose bumps, and brought back memories of some parts of the Philippines history that we only learned from books and studies. To the soldiers from my country of birth and the brave men and women of my adopted country , indeed a “sincere respect’ is due. Thank you Orlando for such a nice tribute. This place is amazing not only of the story behind it, but the splendid display of art and sculpture.
and the view is also very spectacular. I would like to come back for a guided tour someday.
